Proof. Strike through wire mint error. Numismatic collectors strike - made from specially prepared dies. Measures about 20 mm.
A small curl of wire was struck through on the reverse between the left chain and gate. A strike through occurs when a foreign object, such as lint or wire, (from cloths or wire brushes that are used to prepare the dies) is still between the die and planchet when the coin is minted, leaving an impression of the foreign object in the surface of the coin.
